Adult Students

As an alternative to regular admission criteria, an applicant who is 25 years of age or older may be considered for admissions as an adult student if he or she meets the following conditions:

  • Possesses a high school diploma or equivalent through either General Educational Development (GED) or California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE);
    • Has not been enrolled in college as a full-time student for more than one term during the past 5 years;
      • If there has been any college attendance, has maintained a “C” (2.0) average in all college work attempted.
      • Consideration will be based upon the judgment of the Office of Admissions and Student Recruitment as to whether the applicant is as likely to succeed as a regularly admitted freshman or transfer student and will include an assessment of basic skills in the English language and mathematical computation.

        To assess these skills, SAT or ACT scores may need to be presented prior to the determination of admission. The on-campus testing office offers the ACT by appointment for applicants who have not already taken either the SAT or ACT. The testing office is located in Jack Brown Hall, Room 405.

        Students who are seeking enrollment under a dult s tudent criteria need to submit a CSU application found online at CSUMentor. An evaluator in the Office of Admissions and Student Recruitment will determine your eligibility for admission.
